The Context — The History
Isaiah prophesied to Judah during the exile, when God's people felt abandoned and powerless in Babylon. Eagles were symbols of strength and majesty in the ancient Near East, soaring above storms that grounded other creatures.
The Narrative — The Lead-Up
opens with comfort for God's people and declares that the Creator never grows tired. After contrasting human frailty with God's everlasting strength, the prophet promises renewal to those who wait on the LORD.
