A major ancient city on the western coast of Asia Minor (modern‑day Turkey). In Scripture, Ephesus is known for its strategic port, diverse population, and the famous Temple of Artemis, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. It became a central hub for early Christianity: Paul ministered there for several years, the church received the Letter to the Ephesians, and it later became one of the Seven Churches of Revelation. Ephesus often symbolizes spiritual influence, cultural conflict, and the power of the gospel in a pagan world.
