Potentate

A ruler or person who possesses great power and authority. In Scripture, the term is used to describe those with significant earthly rule, but most importantly it highlights God as the supreme Potentate, the One whose sovereignty surpasses all human authority. The word emphasizes power, dominion, and unmatched kingship.
