The Context — The History
Jeremiah prophesied in Judah from Josiah's reform through the fall of Jerusalem—a period of Babylonian rise. Prophetic call often met resistance when kings and people preferred false optimism.

Jeremiah objected that he was too young when the LORD touched his mouth. God replied that vocation preceded birth—knowing, forming, and appointing Jeremiah before he entered the world.
