What The Word Says About Depressed

Depression can make the world feel dim and heavy, but Scripture speaks directly into those shadows with truth, comfort, and hope. God does not overlook the hurting; He draws near to the brokenhearted and lifts those who feel crushed in spirit. These verses remind us that even in the darkest seasons, God’s presence is steady, His compassion is deep, and His promises shine brighter than any despair.

Psalm 40:1-3

"I waited patiently for the Lord; and He inclined to me, and heard my cry. He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my steps. He has put a new song in my mouth—praise to our God; many will see it and fear, and will trust in the Lord."

"Theme: He isn’t absent or far off. Bring all your burdens and weights to Him. Tell Him all the things that weigh you down and cause you sorrow. He will bring you out of the “pit” you’re in, set your feet upon a rock, and establish your steps. Though you may not feel like singing now, He’s going to put a song in your heart and mouth. Wait patiently for the Lord in the midst of your depression.
